Naming a Workspace in Eclipse
When working with multiple workspaces in Eclipse, it is useful to have Eclipse reflect a name for each workspace. For example, if a developer is working with multiple repositories for source control as is common using the latest generation of source control such as Mecurial, then the developer would have several workspaces in Eclipse that all look extremely similar. A simple trick to give yourself this reminder is to name the workspace within Eclipse, but with so many options/menus/dialogs inside Eclipse it's overwhelming to remember them all.
So here is the receipe to name a workspace in Eclipse (At least in Helios, I make no claim to other versions older or newer!):
- From the main menu, select Window->Preferences
- Select General, then Workspace
At this point, your window should look like this display:
Fill in the "Workspace name (show in window title):" text and bingo, that's all there is to it.
